Policy and Procedure Changes Due to COVID-19

My goal has always been to provide a safe and comfortable space for my clients. So during this strange time of COVID-19, this does not change. However, in order to continue making my office a safe and comfortable place for all my clients during this time, I will be continuing to shift and make changes when needed in order to make this possible. I will do my best to continue to update this list as need, as COVID environment is constantly shifting with the risks increasing or decreasing and local regulations changing, but please contact me directly if you have any questions about the most current COVID requirements.

Below is a list of policy changes and procedures that I have be implemented for Hopkins Counseling in order to create a safe and healthy environment for in person counseling sessions in my office:

  • I clean and disinfect all frequently touched surfaces in between sessions.

  • I will be using fabric disinfecting spray on all cushioned furniture in my office and waiting room to disinfect. But there will also be an option for clients to sit on a hard surface chair that can be wiped down with disinfectant should you prefer to sit there instead.

  • The locations of my seating options within my office have been arranged in a way to ensure social distancing is maintained during sessions.

  • All clients that will be using art supplies, fidgets, or games will wash their hands or use hand sanitizer prior to using the items. If you utilize any of the items in the waiting room while waiting, it is also asked that you use sanitizer prior to using the games, toys or art supplies provided.

  • I have changed out all fidgets and calming items used in my office for those that can be cleaned and sanitized.

  • Do you have to wear a mask during your counseling appointments? At the present time, I am allowing this to be a case by case situation because I feel like for counseling a mask covering your face can interfere with my ability to be able to understand how you are feeling during your session. I will have a mask on hand with me at all appointments and will wear one if you would like me to. I will respect your choice on this matter and do as you wish.

  • The waiting room is re-opened. If you are comfortable you are welcome to utilize the waiting room prior to your appointment or while a family member is in an appointment. If you feel more comfortable, you can wait in your car.

  • To help ease my clients' anxiety I am disclosing that I am vaccinated. I have a copy of my vaccination and can show you upon request.

  • And of course, if you or any of your family members are feeling sick please cancel your appointment and stay home. There will not be any cancellation fees for last minute cancellations due to illnesses or symptoms related to illnesses.

Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns or even suggestions I feel like this is uncharted territory and if there is something I can do to make you feel more comfortable I will try my best to do so.
